A long-wear eyebrow pencil works both for everyday makeup and special occasions. It has a very thin tip which may break easily. On the other hand, the comfortable-to-use product doses an optimal amount for natural-looking makeup looks. It works well for defining the most troublemaking brows, adding volume and shine. If it didn’t break so easily, I’d be super happy with this brow pencil. It comes in eight shades so choosing one was challenging. All in all, it’s a pro brow pencil which creates very thin strokes imitating real brows.

The precise eyebrow pencil is good for hiding gaps in sparse brows, delivers a nice color, and has an ultra-fine tip, however, users complain about the tip breaking. Sadly, that’s true. On top of that, it comes in many shades and I really struggled to pick out the right one. And it is not as long-wear as I thought. I definitely don’t use it for special events because I’m afraid it would smudge. The thing I like is the built-in spoolie so I can remove the excess product immediately 🙂 This colored brow pencil delivers natural-looking looks but you need touch-ups during the day. It also requires precision, which is why it is not a good choice for beginners 🙂

The fine-tipped brow pencil requires precision and skill. It is not as easy to use as my previous picks. The ultra-fine tip draws lines that mimic real brows and improves the brow shape, however, using it is really tiring. The Fenty Beauty brow pencil comes in many shades and can be suited to your hair color, but choosing one was rather tricky. On the other hand, this waterproof eyebrow pencil has a spoolie which is super comfortable and useful because we can distribute the optimal amount of the pigment 🙂 It’s a good brow filler which doesn’t smudge from water or sweat, but it takes lots of effort to fill in brows precisely with it.

Cons: it is bad on oily skin; it requires skill from the user
This precise brow pencil adds volume to eyebrows and fills them with pretty, natural-looking color. As in most cases, I struggled to pick the correct shade but managed after all 🙂 You need some skill to use it, though. I think it’s hard to outline the brows and correct the possible flaws because the product is very hard to remove. At the same time, it tends to budge on my oily skin even though it’s a waterproof brow pencil! It seems absurd; it’s hard to take it off but it smudges during wear… I’m not going to restock for sure. I guess it’s better for “normal” skin.
How to Fill in Eyebrows Using a Brow Pencil?
Many times you must have been wondering how to create the perfect eyebrow shape using an eyebrow pencil. I’d like to share my way of using a brow pencil because it is easy and delivers amazing results. Ready to learn? 🙂
Step 1 Prep your eyebrows
I always start by cleaning and combing through my eyebrows. I make sure there’s no makeup residue, and the brows are brushed into the desired position. I use a brow or lash spoolie 🙂
Step 2 Pick the best eyebrow pencil
I choose a brow pencil that goes with my hair color best. Go for the color of your brows or darker by one tone. I also need to be sure that the chosen brow pencil has proper texture to make application easier.
Step 3 Determine your brow shape
I determine the start of the brow by holding a pencil straight from the nose through the inner corner of the eye – I mark the point lightly, and then move the pencil to the outer corner of the eye to determine the end (aka tail) of the brow.
Step 4 Fill in your brows
I use my brow pencil to fill in the brows. I like retractable brow pencils the most because they don’t need sharpening, but whatever floats your boat 🙂 I use light strokes to mimic real brows, following the hair growth. I focus on filling the gaps and keeping the brows symmetric. Remember to use light strokes to avoid overdone brows.
Step 5 Blend it
Once I’m done filling in the brows, I lightly blend the product using a spoolie. That’s why I like brow pencils with a built-in spoolie brush 🙂 By doing so, I’m sure my brows look natural and the product is deposited evenly.
Step 6 Hold brows in place
For special occasions I like to use a brow gel or clear brow soap to make sure my brows stay untouched all day… or night 🙂
