Face Hydrolates. Why do I use them?

Hello Beautiful Beings!

Have you ever heard about face hydrolates? I assume the name itself isn’t strange to you but somehow you are not 100% sure what these are and why they outrun typical toners, right? And do you know why it’s important to use hydrolates in the summer? Feel welcome to read my today’s post.

Hydrolate is natural water that is produced due to the process of plant distillation. Plants, in turn, are distilled due to steam. Thanks to hydrolysis, all valuable substances of a plant are preserved. Apart from that, hydrolates are exceptionally delicate (they don’t irritate skin because they don’t even have to be rubbed against the skin). Moreover, these natural products are easy to use. All you have to do is spray it on cleansed skin of face and cleavage. What’s important, hydrolate has to become absorbed completely before you follow with a face cream.

I spritz my face with rose hydrolate (I also use hydrolates by Bioline or Evree) and when the face is still damp, I apply my favourite face oil (recently, it’s Biotherm Blue Therapy Serum). When the oil is absorbed, I apply a night cream that belongs to the same Biotherm series.

In the morning, I want to use light cosmetics to make my face skin less shiny as well as to protect it against the sun and pollution. For that reason, right after cleansing, I spritz my face with witch-hazels hydrolate (Bioline) and I pat a light serum in tube from Yves Rocher. It’s a specialist cream of very lightweight, almost watery formula (Smoothing cream for combination skin) which is absorbed fast and doesn’t leave any greasy layer on skin.

Hydrolates have yet another advantage. Namely, you can use them to tone your skin after make-up removal procedure and after cleansing it. Also, these products can be added to cosmetic clays, to favourite oils or to medical compresses.
