How to correctly perform face contouring? My proven tricks

Hi, Girls!

Face contouring is the top trend lately. Thanks to the concealer, powder, bronzer and blusher our faces can look stunning. Unfortunately, good quality cosmetics is not all. The secret is in the technique. Today, I will describe you how I contour my face?

What is face contouring?

Face contouring is none other than correcting or perfecting its appearance. With a use of make-up cosmetics, you can make it appear slimmer or wider. By using cosmetics in light shades, you will emphasise these parts you want to pop out and with dark colours, you will camouflage the flaws. A significant role here have the brushes. Their size should match the part of the face you are about to correct. Large and fluffy applicators are perfect for the cheeks, forehead and temples. Small and spiky brushes use for nose, chin and eyes area contour.

What are the most common mistakes in face contouring?

1. Moderation and skills

Face contouring is based on two rules: shades of the cosmetics and its application in the right areas of the face and a moderation in used products. Remember that you have to lighten these areas of the face you want to stand out and darken the ones you want to hide. This is only, to begin with. The second thing is that the least cosmetic you apply the easier it will be to blend. By using smaller and bigger brushes, apply given cosmetic, which will prevent spots and smudges from appearing.

2. It’s not this brush!

As I said it before, face contouring requires different make-up brushes than foundation or powder. For these, you have precise applicators, flat brushes or sponges. Remember that when you contour your face you always have to blend all cosmetics thoroughly. If you took too much product on the brush, just wipe it against the top of your hand.

3. Contouring and face shape

The areas where you’ll be applying cosmetics depends on the shape of your face. You should differently contour oval face (by make-up artists considered the perfect one) and square face. Usually, the light cosmetics are applied on the Cupid’s bow, the bridge of the nose, cheek bones and under the brows. The dark cosmetics are applied on the jaw, sides of the face and the temples.
