Quite a thorny problem that many people need to confront is abnormally increased sweating of feet, which is a consequence of us being exposed to many adverse factors. Do you know that I used to be afflicted with this ailment as well? Luckily, there is always a solution that deals with every problem. It turns out that there are plenty of methods coping with this issue, and I would like to tell you about them today :):)
ABNORMALLY INCREASED SWEATING OF FEET
Most frequently this problem appears in the winter when we wear non-airy and thick shoes, or in the summer when we’re exposed to higher temperatures. Regardless of the season and reasons, excessive sweating of feet doesn’t only pose an aesthetic problem but also a health one. Unpleasant smell is one thing. The second is yeast infection, fungal infection, etc. How to stay away from this ailment? I encourage you to keep reading the entry :):) Maybe the subject isn’t the most interesting one but I think it’s worth discussing it. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Why do feet sweat?
Undoubtedly, there are plenty of reasons, yet I would like to describe what is the most common cause of hyperhidrosis of feet. You will agree with me that it’s wiser to know your enemy before starting fighting with it, won’t you? :):) Why do feet produce excessive amounts of sweat? Here are the reasons of hyperhidrosis:
- High temperature – the most frequent cause of abnormally increased sweating of feet is remaining in overheated rooms for too long. In short, it’s the condition when, for example, we keep our shoes on for the entire day at work.
- Diseases – hyperhidrosis of feet is a common side effect of metabolic disorders (for example, diabetics, thyroid hyperactivity) and hormonal disorders (climacterium).
- Bad hygiene – the key aspect that influences proper functioning of sebaceous glands is posed by hygiene. Lack of proper hygiene is the fastest way to get down with hyperhidrosis.
- Wrong clothing – very often the cause of abnormally increased sweating of feet is improper fabric that our socks or shoes are made of. The less airy fibres and more synthetic materials, the easier it is to become affected by disorders connected with distorted sebaceous glands functioning.
- Too much stress – even stressful situations may impact the condition of our feet. Once exposed to a stressful factor, our body starts producing more sweat, and this includes hands and feet as well.
- Unbalanced diet – spicy and heavily seasoned meals can affect and noticeably intensify the problem of excessive sweat production.
- Genes – of course, hyperhidrosis can be inherited, which means that in some cases we aren’t responsible for ‘helping’ this ailment to develop (like it is with bad hygiene, for example).
However, it’s worth realizing that, in general, perspiration is a natural physiological process. I don’t know if you’re aware of this fun fact but these are our hands and feet that feature the biggest amount of sebaceous glands. The problem arises when this sweating is abnormal and we can’t feel comfortable in our own skin any longer.
WAYS OF DEALING WITH ABNORMALLY INCREASED SWEATING OF FEET
As I mentioned it above, there is no problem without a solution. The cardinal rule is: minimise what encourages excessive perspiration of feet (look at the long list above). If there is something that affects us negatively, just do your best to avoid it :):) In the light of this, change the shoes at work (light footwear), consume less spicy seasonings and try to solve all your health problems as fast as possible. However, what should be done if the problem persists despite us avoiding all the negative factors? Here are my ways of dealing with abnormally increased sweating of feet:
Home remedies for excessive foot sweating:
- Everyday foot wash and dead epidermis cells exfoliation.
- Freshening feet up after every physical activity, for example, after gym.
- Wearing airy socks (made of cotton, for example).
- Wearing shoes made of leather or recent ‘breathing’ fabrics.
- Following balanced diet full of vitamins, deprived of coffee, alcohol and cigarettes.
- Taking advantage of herbs (sage, nettle, field horsetail).
Useful cosmetics for dealing with hyperhidrosis
Currently, we can fight this problem due to preparations combating or temporarily slowing down excessive sweating. Deodorant, powder, gel or stick – what to choose? The truth is that the form of a product doesn’t have any greater importance, yet we can come across cosmetics that are more or less effective, and that can be taken for granted. So what to take into account?
In my opinion, it’s wise to follow the composition – it’s best when the cosmetic contains sage, nettle or oak bark extract, as well as copper and silver ions. Available in pharmacies preparations for sweating feet can also contain aluminium chloride (or other salts), as well as alanine. They don’t only decrease foot sweating but also work antiseptic and soothing. The simplest form, the better for us because either a foot spray or antiperspirant work during a day, without disturbing foot functioning.
Treating excessive foot sweating
Obviously, we can expose ourselves to various treatments which aim is to minimise the problem. I didn’t test any of them because the home remedies helped me sort out this embarrassing issue. However, as far as I’m concerned, the suggested treatments are iontophoresis, surgical sebaceous gland nerves section or infiltrating the problematic body parts with Botox. But is the juice worth the squeeze? I have a doubt about this :):)
